"How to get rich playing the lottery"

Abstract:

He will talk about a lottery scheme in Massachusetts that made a lot of money for a small group of players, and what their strategy had to do with the mathematical notions of expected value and projective geometry.

Biography:

Jordan Ellenberg is a professor of mathematics at UW-Madison, specializing in number theory. His book, HOW NOT TO BE WRONG, is out in June 2014.
